About this course

Keep Edinburgh Buzzing! is a completely free online short course on the importance of our pollinators and how you can help conservation efforts - whether you are in Edinburgh or anywhere else there is something for you!

No prior knowledge is required as this is a beginner's course and will take around 90 minutes to complete. It is for a recommended age of 13+.

What does the course cover?

Keep Edinburgh Buzzing! covers the process of pollination, identifying pollinators and planting for pollinators. The specific learning outcomes are:

• Describe the process of pollination and its importance
• Identify the different types of pollinators and which ones we have in Edinburgh
• Identify which flowers attract pollinators
• Describe the threats facing Edinburgh's pollinators
• Take action to promote pollinators in your garden/home/local environment
• Describe how local organisations, charities and projects are working to conserve pollinators and other invertebrates

What do I need?

You will need a reliable internet access capable of streaming videos and downloading documents. You will need speakers or headphones, and we recommend that you view the course using Firefox, Chrome or Safari for the best experience. The course has also been optimised for tablets and mobile devices.

Free Goodie Packs

The first 100 Scottish residents who complete Keep Edinburgh Buzzing! and take the time to fill out our short post-course survey will be sent a free goodie pack in the post containing further information on how to help conserve Scotland's pollinators. Aged 13+ only. There will be a link on the final page of the course about this.
