  • 10:30 AM - RED PANDAS

    Discover the original and totally unique panda!

    Did you know – red pandas can climb vertically down a tree thanks to their specially evolved ankles and wrists.

    Watch out for… their beautiful red fur and distinctive faces which help them camouflage into wild bamboo forests!

    • 11 am - Axolotl

      Meet at picnic benches outside rockhopper ice cream!

      Come and meet toothless the Axolotl at Edinburgh Zoo!

      You will get to learn about how amazing axolotls are.

      You will also get an opportunity to see some of our other hairless heroes including: 

      • Land Snails
      • Cockroaches
      • Tree Frogs
      • Snakes

      Meet at picnic benches outside rockhopper ice cream .

       

      • 11:30 pm - Pudu and Binturong (Animal of the Month)

        Meet at the pudu enclosure.

        Come and meet the winners of this month's Animal of the Month. 

        Join us as we learn about one of the world's smallest species of deer and take a tiny trek over to the bizarre creature known as a binturong. 

        Meet at the pudu enclosure.

         

        • 12 pm - GELADA BABOONS

          Two geladas

          Discover why geladas are different from other baboons - in fact, they’re not really baboons at all!

          Did you know – another name for our geladas is the ‘bleeding heart monkey’, since they have pink hour-glass shaped patches of skin on their chests?

          Watch out for… our geladas ‘shuffle-feeding’. This is when they move around on their bottoms looking for food!

          • 1:30 PM - CAPYBARAS

            Discover the largest rodents in the world!

            Did you know – capybaras are much faster than their round shape lets on, with a top speed of 22mph!

            Watch out for… their special webbed feet, perfectly adapted for navigating the marshy wetlands of their native habitat.

            • 2 pm - PYGMY HIPPOS

              Discover why ocean conservation is critical to the pitter-patter of penguin feet!

              Did you know – gentoo penguins are the fastest penguins in the world, swimming at a zippy 22mph?

              Watch out for… our ‘Very Important Penguin’, Sir Nils Olav, who is a knighted member of the Norwegian Guard!

            • 3 PM - CHEETAH

              Come and meet Billy our new male cheetah here at Edinburgh Zoo.

              Did you know that Cheetahs are the fastest land mammal running at speeds around 70mph. These cats have evolved for speed and have many adaptations to reach these speeds.
