Genetic Diversity

Genetic diversity is the biological variation that occurs within species. It makes it possible for species to adapt when the environment changes and/or supports disease resistance.

Genetic Marker

A genetic marker is a DNA sequence with a known physical location on a chromosome. Genetic markers can help us test for genetic changes, sometimes called mutations or variants, in your DNA.

Genome

The complete set of DNA (genetic material) in an organism.

Vagrants

Individuals of a species not found in their established range, in this context we are talking about Northern Rockhopper Penguins found outwith the south Atlantic islands of Tristan da Cunha and Indian Ocean islands of St Paul and Amsterdam.
