Native and non-native species

native species is one that evolved and lives naturally in a specific geographic area for example a wildcat in Scotland. A non-native species (also called an introduced, alien, or exotic species) is any animal or plant that has been brought to an area outside of its natural range by human activities, this can be intentionally or accidentally for example Sika deer or red squirrels.
