Indicators of Good and Poor Animal Welfare

"How do you know if you are not feeling great? What are the signs you might show if you are unhappy in your environment?"
There are a number of recognised behaviours that indicate poor psychological wellbeing of animals in captivity. When animals experience poor welfare standards, they may display unusual / uncharacteristic behaviours. These unusual behaviours could fall into these categories: stereotypical behaviours, misdirected behaviours, redirected behaviours, alter levels of activity, change in appetite / feeding habits, and failure in sexual or parental behaviour. But what do they mean and what do they look like?
