Subject: RZSS HWP Discovery Ambassador Application

Dear Mr/Miss/ Ms (add their surname),

I am writing to express my interest in the RZSS Highland Wildlife Park Discovery Ambassador position. I believe that I have the suitable qualifications and background for this role, as I have a lot of relevant experience from my weekend job working at Paradise World in Glasgow, where I am a weekend zookeeper and guide. I have been in this position for 1 year while I studied at the Glasgow School of Animal Welfare. I am looking for a full-time role nearer home and I am confident in my ability to contribute effectively to your Discovery and Learning team at the park.

In my previous role at Paradise World in Glasgow, I was the main point of contact for animal engagement activities at the weekends, which allowed the general public to book and see “The life of a zookeeper”. I am currently at Glasgow School of Animal Welfare where I am working towards my HNC Animal Husbandry qualifications. I have also helped develop bookable Magic Moments when I volunteered at the West of Scotland Exotic Pet Charity.

This experience honed my skills in public speaking, engagement and group management, which I believe align well with the requirements for the HWP Discovery Ambassador role. For instance, in my last position I had to be able to understand people's body language, requirements, and interests in order to tailor what I delivered to them in the best possible way. For example, I have worked with people who have additional support needs, and I have had to adjust my delivery methods accordingly. One group I worked with supports people with autism and I needed to adjust how I presented the information as some sensory objects would be suitable e.g. certain biofacts could not be used due to members of the group having a dislike of fur. These requirements were only made known to us on the groups arrival, and I was able to adjust my whole talk according to their specific needs, ensuring everyone still had a brilliant, inspiring time.

Please find attached my CV and application form, which highlights my qualifications and experience in greater details. I look forward to the possibility of discussing this exciting opportunity with you. I am available for an interview at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

[Barny Rubble]
