The team of conservationists work out in South America mainly in The Pantanal. The Pantanal is the largest freshwater area in the world and lies across Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil. Most of the countries in South America speak Spanish but in Brazil, they speak Portuguese.

RZSS supports the Partula snail reintroduction project in the French Polynesia Islands.

Some species of Partula snail have been saved from extinction by an amazing project in which Edinburgh Zoo along with a number of other zoos have worked together.
This game requires very good observational skills!
There are over 100 species of Partula snails, you have to look closely at their shells to tell them apart. In this game there are 10 different species of snail shell to recognise. Take your time to find out whether you have the correct shell on your board. This will be slower than most bingo games but snails are slow!
We have been involved with the conservation of Partula snails for over thirty years after the introduction of the carnivorous rosy wolf snail to their environment which led to most species going extinct.

This habitat map shows the main habitats in Scotland and places them where they mainly are. For example, there are, of course, mountains in the south of Scotland but the mountain area has been placed in the highlands.
